The Eye Surgery Center of Louisiana is seeking a medical ophthalmologist to staff a satellite office three and half days a week. The office is a mature practice serving the area for nearly 40 years. Patient load is a mixture of young to elderly but skewed to an older population. The patients can have numerous medical eye diseases, such as glaucoma, cataracts, diabetic retinopathy, wet or dry macular degeneration, etc.
The patient volume is approximately 35 to 40 patients a day. The doctor will work Monday, Wednesday, Thursday all day and a half day Friday. On Tuesdays the office is utilized by either our retina specialist or the general ophthalmologist. They rotate through the office every other week.
The physician will be called upon to use many of their skills, including performing general eye exams, treating and following glaucoma patients, including lasers, performing cataract evaluations, diagnosing retinal eye disease, performing minor office-based surgery, and working with the retina specialist and the general ophthalmologist in coordinating care of the patient.
The office is staffed with two full-time ophthalmic technicians and two receptionists.
This would be an ideal position for an ophthalmologist who wishes to enter into a less strenuous life style. Who wants to enjoy being a doctor but wishes to not have to deal with the day to day issues of owning and running their own practice.
The physician must be licensed to practice in the State of Louisiana as an MD or DO. Successfully completed a residency in ophthalmology, posse excellent references, be able to obtain courtesy privileges at local hospital and have or be able to obtain malpractice coverage.
