Washington DC VA Medical Center seeks a Full-Time, Board Certified/Board Eligible Neurologist with special interest in Headache and Pain Management. The ideal candidate will have experience treating refractory headaches with all modalities including Botulinum Toxin injections.
Provide services to include, but not limited to diagnosing, treating and managing Veterans with headaches according to standard, usual and acceptable or customary methods and techniques.
Works with physicians and other clinical providers, trainees, and administrative staff with the Neurology Department.
Responsible for a weekly Headache clinic and a weekly Botulinum Toxin clinic focused on Headache treatment.
Works independently, caring for outpatients in an established headache clinic with Specialists and Primary Care physicians available for consultation.
Participates in the general neurology clinic and actively participates in the Neurology Resident clinics in regard to oversight, clinical care and education/training.
Takes turns covering the inpatient neurology ward and neurology consult service,overseeing and educating residents/students that may involve clinical care/oversight on weekends.
Utilizes computer software/program for entering and signing of medical orders.
Maintains familiarity and compliance with hospital infection prevention policies and procedures, ensuring the use of antiseptic methods in all procedures.
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00-4:30pm. Night, weekend, and holiday call is required in rotation with all neurology attendings.

Federal Retirement Plan:
VA employees are covered by the Federal Employees Retirement System (FERS). FERS is a three-tiered retirement plan composed of 1) Social Security benefits; 2) FERS basic benefits (pension); and 3) Thrift Savings Plan (TSP) which is a 401K-type plan. The Federal Government also provides an automatic basic contribution (1% of salary) and up to 4% of salary in matching contributions, depending on the amount of the employee contribution. For retired military personnel, these benefits are in addition to full monthly retirement pay or pension.
